Hopkinsville scored four times in the first 14 minutes to open the season with a 5-0 soccer win at Fort Campbell Tuesday. Hoptown’s first goal of the game came less than a minute into the game when Welby Horn found Ryan Roussel in front for the score.
Roussel added his second goal four minutes later when he scored unassisted.
Hoptown’s third goal came on a Tyler Greenwell penalty kick after he was fouled in the box 10 minutes into the game. The Tigers finished off their first half onslaught when Greenwell assisted Zach Moore in front.
Hoptown would add their final goal eight minutes into the second half when Roussel capped off the hat trick with the score.
Fort Campbell, who lost to Trigg County 8-4 in their season opener Monday, managed just two shots on goal against Tiger goalies Xavier Bussell and Ethan Bailey. The Falcons are coached by Michael Massie, who is in his first season as head coach after spending six seasons as a Hoptown assistant coach.
Hopkinsville (1-0) will host Murray Thursday, while Fort Campbell (0-2) will entertain Madisonville Thursday.
