Following a rain-out Tuesday that gave the Hoptown Hoppers an unexpected night off, Hoptown traveled to Paducah on Wednesday to face the Chiefs.
Like Monday’s loss to the Madisonville Miners, Hoptown’s bats remained cold as they were shut out by Paducah, 8-0.
It was the first time this season Hoptown was shut out.
In a game where the offense was cold (four hits), the defense wasn’t efficient either. Hoptown committed two errors but more importantly gave up 15 hits and eight runs.
Caleb Reinhardt earned the win and Trey Fortner took the loss.
Though the loss drops the Hoppers to 8-3 on the season, they still sit atop the Ohio Valley League standings.
Hoptown will take their home diamond Thursday night as they look to bounce back against the Fulton Railroaders (4-5).
First pitch is set for 7 P.M.
