Austin Fields has emerged as a dual threat for the Christian County baseball team in helping them win the school’s first region title in 10 years.
The junior infielder hit .290 and led the Colonels with 19 stolen bases and 36 runs scored. His emergence was realized on the mound where he went 5-1 with a 3.11 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 27 innings. He also notched a save for the Colonels.
Christian County begins play in the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament Friday against Paintsville.
