With the start of the Ohio Valley League baseball season just about two weeks away, the Hoptown Hoppers are continuing to finalize their roster for the summer.
The Hoppers announced the additions of pitchers Trey Fields and Ethan Clark to their roster, which appears to have a heavy mound presence.
Fields, a freshman right-hander from Kingsport, Tenn., was a four-time all conference selection at Sullivan South High School.
“Trey is a guy that we were excited to get, especially so late in the process. He has the stuff to be really successful in this league. He is an upper 80’s arm with a three-pitch mix, and he is a guy that, even though he is taking a red shirt this year, was seen as a huge part of the 2017 recruiting class,” said Hoppers manager Brock Moss.
Clark, a freshman right-hander from Ringgold, Georgia, has made 10 appearances for Austin Peay this spring with a 2-0 record. He has 20 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. Clark is the third Governor baseball player to join the Hoppers for the summer.
“Ethan is another late addition who we are very excited to have. He’s got strikeout stuff and it can be seen by his strikeout numbers with Austin Peay this season. He’s an upper 80’s arm with a wipeout breaking ball,” Moss said.
The Hoppers open their season May 31 at Fulton. Their home opener is June 2 against Madisonville at Christian County’s Colonel Field.
