Trigg County overcame a slow start to beat a game Todd County Central squad 6-4 Monday in Elkton. The win was Trigg’s tenth straight over the Rebels dating back to 2010.
Todd County scored first when Nick Tudor led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a Trigg error in their first at bat.
The Wildcats answered in the third inning when Nick Ahart singled and later came around to score on a single to left by Darrin Brown.
Todd County Central scored three runs in their half of the third inning to build a 4-1 lead. Tudor doubled and scored on a Dylan Hurt single. Another Trigg outfield error allowed Tanner Farmer to score on the same hit. After McKinley Griggs singled, Pedro Gonzalez plated Hurt with a sacrifice fly.
Trigg got one run back in the fourth when Arlon Butts doubled and scored on a Micah Brown single.
The Wildcats added three more runs in the fifth when Savion Radford singled and scored on a Darrin Brown double that bounced over the left field fence. Butts added and RBI single, and Jacob Kent plated a run with a sacrifice fly for a 5-4 Trigg lead.
Trigg added an insurance run in the sixth inning on a dropped third strike, stolen base and Todd County error.
Nick Ahart got the pitching win for Trigg County, allowing three earned runs in five innings. He struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter. Tyler Ladd pitched two scoreless innings for the save.
Butts had three hits and an RBI for Trigg County, while Radford, and Darrin Brown each had two hits.
Tudor took the pitching loss for Todd County, giving up five earned runs and striking out four. He also joined Hurt, Griggs, and Jameson Hunt with two hits on the night.
Trigg County (15-10) will travel to Christian County Tuesday, while Todd County Central (4-18) will travel to Warren Central Tuesday.
