It just seems a little wrong to have a very competitive softball game end without a winner. For Christian County and Louisville Male that is just what happened Saturday in the Big M Chevrolet Classic in Elizabethtown. The two teams ended their seven inning game in a 3-3 deadlock.
Neither team got anything going in the first couple of innings. Male broke the ice first, scoring three runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The big blow in the inning was a two run homer by J Howell.
The Lady Colonels responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Both runs were unearned as Christian County took advantage of two walks, a hit batter, and a Male error in the inning, to cut the lead to 3-2.
Christian County then tied the game in the bottom of the 4th inning, and it was another unearned run. Taylor Shemwell led the inning off with a double. Pickle Winkler came into run, and then scored when Male committed its second error of the game, allowing the Lady Colonel to tie the contest at 3-3.
Male threatened in the top of the 6th, loading the bases with two outs. However, Lexie O’Daniel came up with a big strikeout to end the inning.
The Lady Colonels scored their 3 runs on four hits. The hits came from Hope Jones, Emmy Blane, Reni Shemwell, and Taylor Shemwell.
In the circle, Lexie O’Daniel gave up three runs on six hits, striking out eight, while walking four. The tie game ended a seven game winning streak for the Lady Colonels.
