It was an odd recruiting process to say the least, but it ended up with Kolbe Langhi receiving a preferred walk-on role at the University of Kentucky. Langhi signed his agreement Tuesday in a ceremony at the school.

Langhi finished as Christian County’s all-time leading passer with 9,002 yards and accounted for 106 total touchdowns. He completed nearly 60-percent of his passes for 81 touchdowns through the air and ran for another 25 scores.

Despite those numbers and helping lead Christian County to their first unbeaten regular season in school history, Langhi didn’t receive many college offers which left both he and his coaches scratching their heads.

When the preferred walk-on role at Kentucky came, Langhi talked it over with his family and decided it was the best fit for him. A preferred walk-on means Langhi is assured a spot on the team, although the school didn’t offer him a scholarship.
