Each week, YourSportsEdge.com will feature our YSE Super 7 where we rank the top seven baseball teams in the Second Region. Two-time defending region champ Caldwell County tops our first Super 7, but it’s closer than you might think.
1) Caldwell County (2-1) – The Tigers are the two-time defending champions and appear to be the favorite again in 2018. Despite having most of their pitching back, the Tigers have given up 27 runs in their first three games which is something Coach Bradley Stallins will keep an eye on.
2) Christian County (2-2) – The Colonels have only one senior on their roster but have one of the top 1-2 combos on the mound in the region with Lane Diuguid and Wyatt Stevenson. You can’t count the Colonels out when they are on the mound.
3) Henderson County (0-1) – The Colonels lost several games against stiff competition to the weather. New coach Adam Hines has a solid nucleus returning in 2018.
4) Livingston Central (1-1) – The Cardinals, like the three teams ahead of them, have a good 1-2 punch on the mound in Cameron Head and Seth Hosick. They look to surprise the bigger teams in the region this year.
5) Union County (0-1) – Murray State signee Trey Hutchison leads a Brave offense expected to challenge Henderson County in the Sixth District this year.
6) Madisonville (1-1) – The Maroons may have enough pitching to make things interesting in the Seventh District this year.
7) Hopkinsville (2-0) – The Tigers swept a doubleheader from UHA last week, and while they are young, they are a talented bunch that shouldn’t be overlooked in the region this year.
