On a night when the Christian County bats were mostly silent, junior Eric Silvy turned in a complete game four-hitter to lead the Colonels to a 4-1 win over the visiting Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons.  The Colonels even their record to 2-2, while the Maroons suffer their first loss to fall to 1-1.

The Maroons took the lead in the top of the third when sophomore Cole Lawrence singled to bring in Jonathon Hogart, but that was all Silvy would allow.  The Colonels tied the game in the bottom of the inning when junior OF Lane Diuguid reached on an error and junior IF/OF Austin Fields scored.

The game remained tied until the Colonels scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.  Junior IF/OF Jason Polley singled to left to bring in Diuguid, before sophomore Keith Stallons scored from third on a wild pitch.  The Colonels tacked on the final run in their half of the sixth, with Silvy helping his own cause by scoring on an error by the Maroon catcher.

Silvy went the distance for the Colonels, allowing four hits and 1 earned run, while striking out nine and walking three.  Sophomore Gunner Dameron took the loss for Madisonville, going 4.2 innings and only allowing one hit, but giving up 3 unearned runs.  He struck out three and walked six.

Polley got the Colonels’ only hit, knocking in a run and walking twice.  Diuguid had two stolen bases, and Fields and Silvy had one each.

The Colonels return to the field on Thursday when they travel to face 8th District rival Hopkinsville (2-0).
