Trigg County could not overcome a hot-shooting Ballard Memorial team and fell 71-49 Tuesday in their first-ever trip to the Green Palace.
The Bombers shot 73-percent in the first half and 58-percent for the game as they were outscored 36-20 in the paint.
Trigg got out to an 11-6 lead in the first quarter only to see the Bombers end the frame on a 10-3 run. Trigg’s last lead of the game came on a 3-pointer by Kirome Bingham to start the second quarter. A 12-3 Bomber run toward the end of the half put the Bombers up 34-23 before a Micah Brown 3-pointer brought Trigg to within 34-26 by halftime.
Ballard began the second half with a 10-0 run, and their deficit was never in single digits the rest of the way.
Trigg County made just 35-percent of their shots and was outrebounded 37-16. Kirome Bingham led the Wildcats with 12 points, and Devron Triplet added 11 points. DeOvion Day returned from a three-game absence to score eight points and grab eight rebounds.
Ballard Memorial had four players score in double figures. Bradley Chandler scored 24 points and dished out five assists, and Ramon Heard had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Dequin Donlow, Ballard’s leading scorer at 13 ppg., did not play for the Bombers (12-13).
Trigg County (11-12) has lost a season-high five straight games and will host Fort Campbell Thursday for Senior Night.
