The Christian County boys’ basketball team went on the road Tuesday night, beating Muhlenberg County 74-67. The Colonels win their eighth straight, improving to 18-6 on the year, while the Mustangs slip to 11-13.
Colonels’ junior forward Eric Brody scored 7 first-quarter points, and senior forward Detorrion Ware took over in the second with 13, giving Christian County a 38-35 lead at the half. Senior guard Will Nofsinger scored 18 for the Mustangs.
Ware kept up the scoring pace after the break, putting up 8 third-quarter points. The Colonels finished the quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 53-47 lead into the final frame. Senior guard Cory Trice scored 6 in the fourth quarter to help the Colonels close out the game, and they went on to win 74-67.
Ware poured in 35 points to lead the Colonels, followed in double figures by Trice with 13. Brody finished with 9, senior forward Kolbe Langhi and junior forward Fred Tandy both scored 6, and senior forward JaQuon Long had 4. Sophomore guard Damikeon Mathis rounded out the scoring with a basket. For the Mustangs, Nofsinger scored 34, including seven three pointers.
The Colonels close out the regular season on Thursday, going on the road to face Bowling Green (19-9).
