Make it six wins in a row for the University Heights Blazers. UHA opened fast Thursday night and never looked back, as they rolled to a 82-49 8th District win against Fort Campbell down on post. The Blazers, who moved back into the #1 spot in this week’s YSE 2nd Region Rankings, have not lost since their opening game in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic.
With a balanced scoring effort early, the Blazers ran out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter. Seven different Blazers got into the scoring column during the first period.
In the second quarter, it was the KyKy Tandy show for UHA. The junior lit it up, scoring 20 points in the quarter. As a team, the Blazers outscored Fort Campbell 32-16 to push the lead out to 55-28 at the break. Jordan Clark and Cameron Johnson battled trying to keep the Falcons in the game. Clark had 9 points in the first half, while Johnson added 8 more.
The Blazers kept the pressure up at the beginning of the second half. UHA outscored the Falcons 19-10 in the 3rd quarter to push the lead out to 74-38. The Blazers were able to get some playing time for reserves in the 4th quarter, as the Falcons outscored UHA 11-8 in the final period.
Another big night for KyKy Tandy, as he led all scorers with 31 points. Drew McGowan was the only other Blazer to reach double figures with 12. A total of 12 Blazers got in the scoring column during the game. Jordan Clark was the only Falcon to reach double figures with 17.
The win improves UHA’s record to 11-4, while Fort Campbell falls to 2-8.
