The post-Christmas holiday tournaments did very little to affect the Second Region girls’ basketball rankings. However, that is likely to change in the coming weeks as teams play more district and region teams.

Christian County (11-4) – The Lady Colonels dropped a pair of games at the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic to teams ranked in the Bluegrasspreps Top 25 – No. 4 Murray and No. 8 Lincoln County. The losses aren’t anything to cause great concern given the level of competition. Christian County travels to 9-4 Barren County Friday before playing three straight district games.

Webster County (13-4) – The Lady Trojans won two of three games against out of state teams after Christmas and beat a solid Marshall County squad 48-34 Tuesday. Webster will have two district games and a contest against No. 5 Caldwell County in the coming week.

Henderson County (5-6) – Henderson County hasn’t played since Dec. 23 and will play at McCracken County Saturday ahead of next Tuesday’s district showdown with No. 3 Webster County.

Hopkinsville (13-4) – Hoptown won three of four at the FNB Holiday Bash at South Warren and overcame a slow start Tuesday to beat No. 8 Madisonville 58-33. After a Friday district game with Fort Campbell, the Lady Tigers will have a measuring stick game Tuesday at Graves County.

Caldwell County (8-4) – After a 19-point head-scratching loss to Ballard Memorial, Caldwell County responded with a one-point win over Calloway County, one of the top five teams in the First Region. Caldwell has a district game with No. 14 Dawson Springs Thursday and a Saturday home game with No. 2 Webster County.

Livingston Central (8-8) – The Lady Cardinals came back after Christmas and dropped a 44-32 decision to a decent Carlisle County team from the First Region. Their next four games are against region opponents.

Hopkins County Central (8-8) – The Lady Storm are showing signs of improvement and could be primed to climb the rankings in the coming weeks. Hopkins Central will play No. 11 Union County Saturday.

Madisonville (3-9) – The Lady Maroons have averaged just 29 points in their last three losses, which has been a common denominator in every loss this year. Madisonville has games upcoming with No 12 UHA Friday and No. 5 Caldwell County Tuesday.

Crittenden County (6-6) – The Lady Rockets were blown out of two games in Martin, TN after Christmas and beat a 2-11 team by eight points in the finale, which keeps them at No. 9 this week. Crittenden County will host No. 10 Lyon County Friday.

Lyon County (8-3) – The Lady Lyons finished as runner-up in the Community Christian 1st Lady Warrior Classic, falling to 5-7 Hickman County in the title game. Lyon has district games in two of their next three outings.

Union County (3-10) – The Bravettes lost all three of their games in Benton, Ill. after Christmas and return to action Friday with a district game against No. 2 Webster County.

University Heights (4-7) – The Lady Blazers picked up a good win against Todd County Central before letting one slip through their fingers against McLean County Tuesday. UHA can make a move with a win at No. 8 Madisonville Friday.

Trigg County (6-7) – Trigg County fared well against the lower half of the First Region with wins over Fulton County and Community Christian. The Lady Wildcats look to snap a long district losing streak Friday against No. 6 Livingston Central.

Dawson Springs (3-9) – The Lady Panthers have not played since Dec. 22 and return to action Thursday at No. 5 Caldwell County in a Seventh District matchup.

Fort Campbell (0-9) – The Lady Falcons come out of the Christmas break with three straight Eighth District games.
