Humboldt Survives Big Game From Ware to Edge Christian County

A monster game from Detorrion Ware was not enough for the Christian County Colonels Thursday as they dropped their second consecutive game in the Poplar Bluff Showdown. The Colonels were upended by Humboldt, Tennessee, 80-73.

Humboldt got a quick jump on the Colonels, getting out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter of play. Detorrion Ware then caught fire in the second quarter. Ware scored 18 of Christian County’s 24 points in the quarter, as the Colonels battled back to cut the Humboldt lead to 36-34 at the break.

Ware kept pouring it on during the 3rd quarter. The Colonel senior scored 13 more in the quarter, as Christian County cut the lead to one point at 54-53 headed into the 4th.

Ware kept pouring it on, scoring 14 in the final quarter. However, Humboldt was able to clamp down on the rest of the Colonels and inch out to the seven point win.

Ware led all scorers in the contest with 49 points. Eric Brody added 9, while JaQuon Long scored 8. Humboldt was led by Anthony Jones with 36 points.

The loss drops Christian County to 8-3 on the season.
