University Heights will have a tough road in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic this week at Lexington Catholic High School.
The Blazers (5-3) are coming off a fourth place finish at the Paducah Tilghman Christmas Tournament with single-digit losses to Tilghman and Mayfield.
UHA will play Bryan Station (10-0) Wednesday morning at 10:30. It will be one of the few teams the Blazers will have a decided size advantage against as the Defenders start five guards. However, they average 77 points and give up 55 a game. UHA is scoring 84 points a game but giving up 72.
A win by UHA would move them into Thursday’s quarterfinals against either Pikeville (6-1), Doss (8-3), or Rocky River, NC. A loss would move them into the consolation bracket where they would play at noon in the double-elimination event.
Once they return home from Lexington, the Blazers will play at Madisonville on Jan. 5.
