With the week before Christmas now here, the holiday tournaments will get into full gear over the next two weeks. For the University Heights Academy Blazers, the holidays will find them traveling to Paducah before Christmas, and Lexington after Christmas.
Coming up Thursday and Friday, the Blazers will be playing in the 73rd annual Paducah Tilghman Christmas Tournament. UHA will begin pool play Thursday morning at 11:30am, when they take on Louisville Seneca. The Redhawks have struggled in the early part of the season, going 1-5 headed into a Tuesday night matchup against Iroquois. Their only win was a 62-61 overtime win against St. Xaviers.
Thursday evening at 7:30pm, the Blazers will wrap up play in their pool taking on the host Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado. The Tornado enters the tournament at 4-2, with their losses coming to Warren Central and Christian County.
Play in the tournament wraps up Friday with three games, beginning Friday afternoon at 2:30pm.
After Christmas, UHA heads off to the 2017 Traditional Bank Holiday Classic, hosted by Lexington Catholic. The Blazers begin play in the tournament, Wednesday, December 27, at 11:30am, when they take on Lexington Bryan Station. The Defenders will enter the tournament with a 10-0 record.
