If a couple of national sports media are correct, a former area football star, who was heavily recruited by the University of Kentucky, but chose a Big 10 school instead, could face the Wildcats during the 2017 bowl season. After UK’s loss to Louisville on Saturday, it appears the Cats’ bowl destination possibilities are essentially down to three.
With a 7-5 record, it appears most likely. UK is headed towards the Music City Bowl, the Belk Bowl, or the Liberty Bowl. Seven different national projections being reported Monday are split on just where the Cats could end up. Three have the Music City Bowl, and two each have the Liberty Bowl and the Belk Bowl.
CBS Sports and NBC sports are projecting the Cats to play Purdue in the Music City Bowl, in Nashville. The Boilermakers are quarterbacked by Elijah Sindelar, who won Mr. Football in Kentucky following his senior year at Caldwell County High School.
If the Cats were to take on Purdue in Nashville, you can expect a bit more interest than normal in the region, especially in Caldwell County. Just guessing, but expect that would be the case.
