The volleyball teams from University Heights Academy, Trigg County, and Hopkinsville made their way to Henderson County on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Jerry Mezur Spikefest. The Lady Tigers posted a 2-2 record, while Trigg County went 2-3, and UHA was winless in 4 matches.
On Friday, UHA faced off against the 24-8 West Jessamine Colts, losing 0-2 (25-15, 25-9), and followed with an 0-2 (25-9, 25-16) loss to the Apollo E-gals (19-14). On Saturday, the Lady Blazers lost to the 19-14 North Hardin Trojans 0-2 (25-9, 25-16) and wrapped up their tournament with a 0-2 (27-25, 25-20) loss to the Hancock County Lady Hornets (15-17). The Lady Blazers are now 10-16 on the season.
The Trigg County Lady Wildcats began their tournament on Friday with an 0-2 (25-14, 25-10) loss to hosts Henderson County (20-14). On Saturday the Lady Wildcats lost 0-2 (25-17, 25-14) to the 12-17 Owensboro Lady Devils, fell 0-2 (25-22, 25-18) to the 19-14 North Hardin Trojans, and then picked up two wins to close their tournament. Trigg County won 2-1 (14-25, 25-20, 15-6) over the McLean County Lady Cougars (17-13) and 2-0 (25-23, 25-12) over the 19-12 Whitley County Lady Colonels. The Lady Wildcats now sit at 13-16 on the year.
The Lady Tigers opened their tournament on Friday with a 2-1 (25-19, 22-25, 15-8) win over Whitley County (19-12) and an 0-2 (25-22, 25-12) loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins (21-9). On Saturday the Lady Tigers won 2-0 (25-14, 25-12) over Hancock County (15-17) and closed with an 0-2 (25-19, 25-14) loss to the 19-14 Apollo E-gals. Hopkinsville’s record is now 13-16.
All three teams are off this week before competing in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smackdown this weekend, being hosted by Christian County and Hopkinsville.
