The Caldwell County boys’ soccer team picked up its second straight win after slipping by the Trigg Count Wildcats 3-2.  Trigg has lost 4 straight and fall to 6-10 on the season.

After a first half largely controlled by the Wildcats, Caldwell took the lead when senior Ryan Frisch pounced on a Wildcat defensive miscue with less than 2 minutes to play and finished to the far side netting.

The Wildcats would get on the board quickly in the second half when freshman Will Jolly got behind the right side of the Tiger defense and beat the Caldwell goalkeeper, junior Barett Schultz, to the far post.  Shultz was injured late in the second half and was replaced by senior defender Boyce Nichols, who had a strong night in the middle of the Tiger defense.

With 28 minutes to play in the second half, senior Mitchell Scott would pick the ball up in his own 18 yard box after a Wildcat corner kick and go on a 80 yard, weaving, high speed slalom through the Wildcat defense and finish it with a goal to put the Tigers back in the lead.  Ten minutes later, Jolly would answer as he cut across the top of the box and scored into the top corner.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, senior midfielder Jin Hong Zheng would find a way to knock in a loose ball in front of Wildcat sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Smith.  With less than 2 minutes left after the goal, time ran out on the Wildcats, continuing their recent slide.

The Tigers (6-8-1) travel to 1-10 Todd County Central on Thursday, while the Wildcats face Calloway County, 5-4 winners over Hopkinsville Tuesday night, on Saturday in Murray.
