The answer for the offensive woes for the Fort Campbell Falcons Friday night was 4, specifically the number 4 worn by Denoris Buchanan, who ran around and through the Fort Knox defense, as the Falcons won their 15 consecutive Army Bowl by the score of 34-0. The Falcons took the lead in the first minute of the game and never looked back.
After a Fort Knox fumble, Buchanan took the snap out of the wildcat formation and ran 60 yards for a touchdown on the Falcons first offensive play of the night. Buchanan also had touchdown runs of 28, 15, and 45 yards in the contest, and had two other touchdowns callled back due to penalty. Buchanan ended the night with 23 rushes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 1 pass for 21 yards, giving 310 yards of total offense in the game.
Julian Roberts gave the Falcons solid minutes backing up Buchanan, as he carried the ball 11 times for 61 yards.
The Falcons, at least for one night, put their offensive struggles behind them, rolling up 484 yards of total offense.
With the win, the Falcons go to 2-3 on the season, headed into next week’s district opener at Trigg County, who lost to Russellville Friday night.
Afterwards, Coach Josh Robins spoke about his team getting back on the winning track.
