The Murray State women’s golf team came home with a second place finish at the Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Missouri. The Racers posted scores of 297-298-293=888 and finished in a chase of winner Memphis at 874. Raeysha Surendran and Linette Holmslykke paced the Racers with a share of fifth place. Surendran had scores of 76-77-69=222, while Holmslykke carded scores of 73-76-73=222. Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria and Moa Folke shared 15th place. Folke had rounds of 73-75-77=225, while Puente Rodriguez posted scores of 75-72-78=225. Jane Watts placed 32nd on scores of 80-75-74=229.
Anna Moore, of Hopkinsville, and Belen Amoros Benet played the event as individuals for the Racers. Moore placed 26th on scores of 79-74-74=227, while Benet was 40th on rounds of 75-75-82=232.
After Memphis and Murray State, the rest of the top-5 teams included UTEP (896), Wichita State (902) and host Missouri State (912). South Dakota (915) and Louisiana-Monroe (917) placed sixth and seventh in the field of 15 teams.
The next event for the Racers is the Chris Banister Classic (Sept. 24-26) at Silver Lakes Golf Club in Gadsden, Alabama.
