Hopkinsville boys’ soccer senior forward Caleb Joiner got the Tigers off to a flying start with 3 goals in the first three minutes of the game and they never looked back, mercy ruling the Colonels 10-0 in a match that didn’t make it to the second half.

Joiner led the way, but the Tigers spread the scoring load around with six different goal-scorers and six players notching at least one assist.  Sophomore midfielder Welby Horn scored 2 goals and had an assist, senior midfielder Newcomb Maddux matched Horn with 2 goals and an assist of his own, and senior midfielder Ethan Noel recorded 3 assists.  Senior forward Tyler Aldridge picked up a goal and 2 assists and junior forward Ryan Roussel and junior midfielder Zach Moore added a goal each.  Senior midfielder Braden Casey, sophomore midfielder Tyler Greenwell, and sophomore defender Mason Rye each provided an assist.

The Tigers, ranked 1st in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region boys’ soccer rankings, move to 5-0 and have only allowed 3 goals on the season.  Hopkinsville hosts the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic this weekend, beginning play against the 3-4-1 North Oldham Mustangs on Saturday.  The Colonels, ranked 10th, fall to 2-3-3 and will also compete in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic, opening play against 5-5 Marion County.
