After a strong summer on various youth golf tours, Christian County senior John Buchanan transitioned into the high school season with a second place finish Friday at the Greenwood Best of the West Invitational at Mineral Mound Golf Course in Eddyville.
Buchanan double-bogeyed his first hole and then rebounded to shoot even par on the next eight holes of the front nine. He was one of five golfers to shoot under par on the back nine and finished with a 1-over 73.
Marshall County freshman Jay Nimmo shot a 4-under 68 to win the event, helping the Marshals to an eight stroke win over second place McCracken County.
Carson Holmes shot an 80 for the Colonels, and Micah Smith added a 93.
