While the head coach will be a new face, one member of the Austin Peay basketball staff will be very familiar, even though he is one of the youngest. Officials at APSU announced Friday that Hayden McClain would be returning to the Govs as special assistant to head coach Matt Figger.
McClain will be in his seventh season with the Governor’s basketball program, five as a manager, followed by a year as graduate assistant in 2016-17. He will work directly with Coach Figger, the new head coach at Austin Peay, in a variety of roles, serving as community service liaison and assisting with video, equipment, travel, housing, camps and the monthly newsletter.
McClain is currently working on his master’s in health and human performance.
