If the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers volleyball team is a bit tired during the day on Friday, you could understand why. For the second night in a row, the Lady Tigers played a difficult five set match, falling 3-2 on the road at Madisonville. The loss comes just 24 hours after Hopkinsville survived a hard five set match against Christian County.
The match against the Lady Maroons literally went back and forth by the set. Madisonville took the opening set 25-21. Hopkinsville roared right back to win the second 25-19, and even the match at 1-1.
Madisonville took their turn in the third set, winning 25-18, to take a two set to one lead. The Lady Tigers returned the favor in the 4th set, taking it 25-18, and forcing the deciding fifth set.
The Lady Maroons were able to outlast the Lady Tigers 15-11 in the deciding set to take the match.
Hopkinsville got a big night from Alyssa Bearns with 16 kills and two assists. Hailey Hallmark continues to make a difference after returning from an injury, finishing the night with nine kills and six blocks. Hope Pace added 11 kills, four digs, and two blocks.
With the loss, Hopkinsville drops to 7-10 on the season. They head off to Louisville this weekend for the Jefferson County Invitational.
