Madisonville Leads the Region in Boys’ Wins in 2018-19

Madisonville-North Hopkins had the most wins in boys’ sports in the Second Region for the 2018-19 school year. The Maroons had 74 wins in the four major team sports – football, soccer, basketball, and baseball.

The 74 wins was 13 more than Hopkinsville, who had the second-most with 61. University Heights (59) was third, and Henderson County (56) was fourth.

Madisonville’s win total was 18 more than 2017-18 and tied with Lyon County with the largest increase over the previous year. University Heights, which doesn’t play football, and Crittenden County both increased their win total by 15.

Seven schools in the region showed an increase in wins from 2017-18 to 2018-19. They were Lyon County (+18), Henderson County (+18), Crittenden County (+15), University Heights (+14), Hopkinsville (+14), Union County (+6), and Trigg County (+2).

There were eight schools that showed a decline in wins — Henderson County (-1), Hopkins County Central (-1), Fort Campbell (-4), Livingston Central (-7), Dawson Springs (-7), Webster County (-7), Caldwell County (-9), Christian County (-14).

Not all schools in the region participate in all four sports. Livingston Central and Dawson Springs do not field a soccer or football team. Lyon County and University Heights doesn’t play football, and Crittenden County does not play soccer.

Madisonville was the only school to record double-digit wins in all four sports. UHA and Crittenden County notched double-digit wins in the three sports they offered.
