Former Hopkinsville Tiger Easton McGee is among eight players on the Bowling Green Hot Rods, who have been selected to the 2019 Midwest League Eastern Division All-Star team. The announcement of the team was made Wednesday morning. Four position players on the Hot Rods’ roster, three of which will start, and four pitchers will take part in the MWL All-Star Game on June 18 in South Bend, Indiana.
McGee is joined by fellow pitchers Shane McClanahan, Caleb Sampen, and Alan Strong on the roster. Three position players have been named starters for the game, with shortstop Wander Franco, catcher Chris Betts, and designated hitter Roberto Alvarez while Grant Witherspoon is an outfield reserve player.
McGee is having a spectacular season in his fourth year as a pro and earns the first All-Star selection of his career. Drafted out of Hopkinsville High School in the fourth round of the 2016 draft, McGee has a 4-1 record with a 2.70 ERA, which is 10th in the league, through 11 appearances. The ERA mark is the lowest of his career. McGee’s .800-win percentage this season is tied for the third-best mark on the circuit.
