
Fort Campbell eighth-grader Ethan Ploetz beat Hopkinsville’s Spencer Powell 6-0, 6-0 in his opening match of the regional tennis tournament at Henderson County on Monday night, before falling 0-6, 0-6 to top-seeded Jon Nunez of Henderson.
Falcon sophomore Cole Arnold and Webster County’s Seth Ranes each took a set in their first-round match, before Ranes won the tiebreaker 10-8 to move on to the quarterfinals.
In doubles play, Will DeShazo and Justin Morgan lost 3-6, 2-6 to Hopkinsville’s Hayden Woosley and Maxwell Bauserman, while Dionte Berry and Gabe Powers fell 4-6, 4-6 to Webster County’s Eli Byrum and Lane Dailey.
