Cornerstone Christian swept a KCAA doubleheader from Heritage Christian Saturday, but not before the Lady Warriors made things interesting with a late rally in the second game.

Cornerstone jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning.  HCA scored in the third inning on an RBI single by Bella Miller.  Kennedy Hughes scored a run with a groundout in the fourth inning to bring the Lady Warriors to within 5-2.

After Cornerstone added an important insurance run in the fourth inning, HCA scored three times in the fifth inning.  Kinley Deason walked and came around to score on a Chloe Ginn sacrifice fly.  Miller split the gap in the left-centerfield to score Jaclyn Lowry and beat the throw home to make it a 6-5 game.  HCA had the tying tun at second base, but strikeout ended the game.

Miller finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Lowry also had three hits.  Miller struck out five and allowed three hits in the circle for the Lady Warriors.

Cornerstone won the opener 19-4, banging out nine hits and taking advantage of 10 walks.

Jordan Trumble had a hit and two RBIs for the Lady Warriors, who fell to 3-6 in KCAA play.  Cornerstone, the second-ranked team in the KCAA, improved to 6-2 in league play.

Heritage Christian will host No. 3 Highlands Latin Saturday at Lady Warrior Field.
