Trigg County jumped out to early leads in their first two games of the Marshall County Slugfest Friday and posted a pair of wins. The Lady Wildcats beat Graves County 7-5 and held off Muhlenberg County 4-2.

In the opener, Trigg County scored in each of the first four innings in picking up the win over Graves County. With two outs in the first inning, Alyssa Southwood and Kara Southwood both singled. Hannah Colbert ripped a double to left field to score the sisters for an early 2-0 lead.

Trigg added a run in the second when Rylee Hendricks singled home Autumn Durham, who had led off the inning with a single.

After Graves County got two runs back in the third, Colbert added another RBI single for a 5-2 lead. Trigg added two more runs in the fourth inning on a two-base error off the bat of Hendricks.

Laney Shoulta led off the fifth inning with a home run, and Graves pieced together enough hits to cut the Trigg lead to 7-5.

Graves County put two runners on in the seventh inning with one out, but a line out and strikeout ended the threat.

Colbert struck out seven and walked two in picking up the win. She also had two hits and three RBIs at the plate. Durham and Logan Darnall also had two hits for the Lady Wildcats.

Alyssa Goree had three hits for Graves County (6-9).

In the nightcap, a three-run fourth inning was all the Lady Wildcats needed for a 4-2 win over Muhlenberg County.

Adri Phillips drove in two runs with a single to left and later scored on a throwing error by Muhlenberg County on a stolen base.

In the sixth, Autumn Durham ripped a one-out triple to right and scored on a Phillips groundout.

Both teams had six hits, but Muhlenberg County (5-11) made two costly errors.

Colbert struck out 10 and walked two in picking up her second win of the night.

Trigg County (8-9) will play two more games Saturday at the Marshall County Slugfest.
