The McLean County Lady Cougars used a big first inning to take control of their game against University Heights Friday night and then roll on to a big win. McLean County scored 11 runs in the first inning on their way to a 17-2 three inning win in Calhoun.
The Lady Blazers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st. UHA took advantage of three McLean County errors to score the two runs.
The Lady Cougars then exploded in the bottom half of the inning. McLean County pounded out eight hits on their way to scoring the 11 runs.
McLean County then closed out the game with six more runs in the bottom of the third inning to close out the game. In the inning, the Lady Cougars took advantage of two walks, two hit batters, and a Lady Blazer error to score their runs.
UHA was limited to three hits by two McLean County pitchers.
