
Caldwell County senior guard Derrin Boyd has made it official. He will play basketball at Georgetown College.
The CCHS standout held a signing ceremony on Wednesday in the Fine Arts Theatre at Caldwell County High School.
Boyd not only joins a storied hoops program, but will play for the defending NAIA national champions next season. Georgetown made its 28th appearance in the national championships this year. The Tigers tallied their third title and finished the season with a 33-4 record.
Georgetown’s coaches were in attendance at the signing ,,, along with the national championship trophy.
Boyd helped lead Caldwell to a 19-11 record this season. The Tigers reached the 2nd Region semifinals before falling to University Heights.
Boyd finished his high school career fourth on Caldwell’s career scoring list with 1,911 points. He averaged 24.0 points a game as a senior.
Boyd is also fifth on Caldwell’s all-time rebounding list with 628 boards as a Tiger.
He was also heavily recruited by Kentucky Wesleyan and several junior colleges.
