A tough day for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Friday in the Bob Jones Tournament in Huntsville. The Lady Tigers dropped a pair of games, losing 15-3 to East Limestone, and then falling to Boaz 17-1.

In their opening game of the day, the Lady Tigers saw East Limestone score in every at bat on the way to a 15-3 win.

Hopkinsville got out of the gate quickly. Morgan Hodge walked, stole second, and then later stole home, as the Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead after ½ inning.

East Limestone evened things out in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Indians scored on a triple and a ground out to tie the game at 1-1 after one complete.

East Limestone then blew the game open with an eight run second inning. The big shot in the inning was a three run home. The Lady Indians would add two more runs in the third, and four more in the bottom of the 4th inning to go up 15-1.

The Lady Tigers would score two runs in the top of the 5th inning, but could not muster a threat beyond that.

Morgan Hodge went 2-2, with two runs scored for Hopkinsville. Shaniya Straight was 1-2, with a run scored.

In the circle, Marley Hancock pitched all four innings, giving up 15 runs, 11 of them earned, on 11 hits, and walking seven. The Lady Tigers had their struggles in the field, committing 3 errors in four innings in the field.

The second game of the day did not go much better for the Lady Tigers. Boaz High School scored 17 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and chewed up the time limit for the game, picking up the 17-1 win.

Boaz used eight hits, six walks, a hit batter, and a Hopkinsville error to score 15 runs before the first out in the bottom of the first inning. Two more walks and another single stretched the lead out to 17-1 and ended the game.

Hopkinsville’s run in the top of the 1st came after Morgan Hodge led off the game with a double, stole third, and then scored on a steal of home.
