The Caldwell County Lady Tigers first game in the Bob Jones Tournament ended up being a pitcher’s duel, with the host school taking the win. Caldwell County was limited to just one hit, with that hit being a Mashea Glover home run, as the Lady Tigers fell to Bob Jones 2-1.

Bob Jones used a double and a Caldwell County error to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. After struggling a bit with her control in the opening inning, and giving up three walks, Caldwell’s Katie Franklin got in a groove and set down 10 of the next 11 batters she faced. After the first inning, Frankin gave up no runs the rest of the game, and did not surrender another walk.

The Lady Tigers cut the lead in half in the top of the 4th when Mashea Glover took one out of the park to left field to make it a 2-1 game. However, Caldwell County only had two runners reach base after that point, and neither of them made it as far as second base.

For the game Katie Franklin went six innings in the circle, giving up the two runs, only one of them earned, on four hits, while striking out six, and walking three, all of the walks coming in the first inning.

Two Bob Jones pitchers combined to pitch the one hitter, striking out 13 Lady Tigers in the game.
