Lady Wildcats Close Out Home Schedule With Win Over St. Mary

Trigg County held St. Mary to single digits in all four quarters on their way to a 70-30 win over the Lady Vikings Monday at Wildcat Gym. The Lady Wildcats finish the season 6-4 at home – their most home wins in a season since 2011-12.

A slow start by both teams saw Trigg County hold on for a 10-8 lead after one quarter. The Lady Wildcats got going in the second quarter, starting the frame on a 16-4 run.

Katelyn Slone scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter as the Lady Wildcats built a 34-17 lead at intermission.

Ahead 48-26 after three quarters, Trigg County reached the running clock with a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter and outscored St. Mary 22-4 in the final frame.

Ten players scored for Trigg County with three of them reaching double figures. In addition to Slone’s 14 points, Adri Phillips scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Marleigh Reynolds had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, and Bethany Stallons scored eight points.

Trinity Higgins led St. Mary (10-17) with 12 points.

Trigg County scored 32 points off 26 St. Mary turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Vikings 45-24. The Lady Wildcats improve to 13-15 – the most wins they have attained in a season since 2003. They will close out the regular season Thursday at Fort Campbell.
