After trailing throughout the second and third quarters, the Lyon County boys’ basketball team found the range just in time to pull out a 62-57 victory over hosts Butler County at the Limestone Bank Christmas Classic on Thursday.  The win halts a 2-game slide for the Lyons and improves their record to 7-5.  The Bears see a 5-game winning run come to an end, moving them to 6-4 overall.

The Lyons led 14-10 after the first quarter, but the Bears outscored them 18-10 over the second 8 minutes to take a 28-24 lead into the halftime break.

Butler County continued to stretch the advantage after the break, and led by 8 after the third quarter.  However, the Lyons got going down the stretch, putting up 25 points in the fourth and holding the Bears to only 12 on the way to a 5-point victory.

Travis Perry was all over the stat sheet for the Lyons, draining four 3-pointers on the way to 25 points, while also collecting 6 rebounds and 6 steals.  Jackson Shoulders had a big night with a double-double, 19 points and 12 boards, with Nick Whalin just missing his own double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Lyons will be back in action at the Limestone Bank Christmas Classic, facing the 2-7 Fulton City Bulldogs.
