For the first time during the 2018-2019 season, the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team has increased their stock in the Associated Press Top-25 poll. After being slotted 10th last week, the Wildcats moved up one spot to ninth in the latest rankings.

The eight teams slotted ahead of Kentucky (in order) are Gonzaga, Kansas, Duke, Virginia, Michigan, Nevada, Tennessee and Auburn.

Kentucky came into the year as the second-ranked team, but a blowout loss to Duke in the season’s opener slid the Wildcats back to 10th in Week 2. Inconsistent play held Kentucky in place for both Week 3 and Week 4.

A 46-point win over Monmouth that was followed by a 17-point win over an experienced UNC Greensboro team seemed to impress more than just head coach John Calipari and Big Blue Nation. The voters seemed to tune-in to the Wildcats’ success as well.

This week, Kentucky can continue their rise in the AP poll with a statement win over the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday in the Citi Hoops Classic.

TV coverage will be provided by FOX with on-air streaming via 106.5 WKDZ radio in the Western Kentucky area.

Tip-off is set for 12 P.M. EDT at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York.
