While the Murray State Racers put up a consistent fight, the Kentucky Wildcats proved what they have all season: they’re just better than the competition. Sweeping the Racers, 3-0, the Lady Wildcats improved to 25-4 on the season and earned advancement to the second round of the NCAA Volleyball Championship.

The team totaled 51 kills against the Racers, which seemed to have head coach Craig Skinner extremely pleased.
Veteran Leah Edmond led the way in that category, logging 17 with a block & dig.

Freshman sensation Alli Stumler posted a double-double of 12 kills & 15 digs. Veteran Brooke Morgan logged 10 kills as well as a career-high seven digs.
On defense, sophomore Gabby Curry led the way with 16 digs as freshman Lauren Tharp followed with 11.

The sweep gifted Kentucky their 22nd-straight match win, moving them to just two behind the program’s all-time record.
That winning streak will be put on the line once again as the Wildcats face the Purdue Boilermakers in the second round. The Boilermakers improved to 24-8 following a 3-0 sweep of East Tennessee in the first round.
Saturday’s match of the Regional Semi-Finals is set for 7 P.M. EDT on SEC Network and ESPN 3.
