Points were hard to come by Saturday afternoon at the Kentucky Basketball Hall of Fame Classic, with the Christian County girls’ basketball team coming up short 34-31 against North Hardin in Elizabethtown. The Lady Colonels slip to 1-2 with a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins coming up on Tuesday, while North Hardin remains unbeaten at 3-0.
Trinity McGee scored half of the Lady Colonels’ 8 first-quarter points and they trailed by 4 after one. Eniya McGee took over in the second with 6 points, matching the output of North Hardin, and Christian County trailed 18-16 at the halftime break.
The Lady Colonels were consistent, putting up 8 points for the third-straight quarter, with Trinity McGee and Eniya McGee combining for all the points. Trailing by a point with 8 minutes to play, Christian County couldn’t quite get over the hump despite 5 more from Trinity McGee. Zah’Riya Rupp and Addison Sutton combined for 8 points in the fourth and the Trojans held on for a 3-point victory.
Trinity McGee led the Lady Colonels with 13, followed by Eniya McGee with 10. Lamontavia Forte added 4 points, 7 assists and 2 steals.
