John Hardin completed a two-day demolition tour through two of the better teams in the 2nd Region with a 76-29 throttling of Christian County on Saturday at the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at Central Hardin High School. Just over twelve hours after breezing past UHA 81-44 at the Marshall County Hoop Fest, the Bulldogs move to 3-0 with the victory over the Colonels.
John Hardin took control early when Alex Matthews, Jalen Tyus and Trevon Harris combined for 22 first-quarter points to give the Bulldogs a 30-6 lead after the first 8 minutes.
The Bulldog defense continued to smother the Colonels, holding them to only 8 second-quarter points and a single basket in the third. Christian County enjoyed its only double-figure scoring frame in the fourth, but were still outscored 17-13 for the final margin.
Matthews led the way for John Hardin with 19, followed by Harris with 17 and Tyus with 14.
Stephon Bussell was the only Colonel in double figures with 10, with Qua Chambers adding 6.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Colonels with a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins coming up on Tuesday. The Maroons have made an early-season statement with wins over Bowling Green, Marshall County and McCracken County.
