It was an impressive way to open the season Thursday night for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons. Madisonville held Union County to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters as the Lady Maroons cruised to a 65-30 road win over the Union County Bravettes.
Madisonville effectively ended the game in the opening quarter, when the Lady Maroons outscored the Bravettes 27-8. The onslaught continued in the 2nd quarter, as the Lady Maroon defense limited Union County to just five points to push the halftime lead out to 40-13.
Coming out of the locker room at the break, the Lady Maroons kept right on rolling, outscoring Union County 16-5 to extend the lead to 56-18 and get to the running clock. With reserves seeing much of the action in the final quarter, the Lady Maroons would settle in and ride it out to the final 35 point margin.
Coutney Peyton led the Lady Maroons with 21 points. Camryn LaGrange had a big night as well, finishing with 20 points.
Emily Hibbs, Mollie Morris, and Madison Morris, each score six points for Union County in the loss.
