Former Caldwell County standout Bryce Thomas has a new baseball destination.
Thomas, who is a sophomore at Rend Lake College, announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he will continue his college playing career at the NCAA Div. I level.
“Excited to announce that I have committed to Northern Kentucky University to continue my athletic and academic career! Huge thanks to my family, friends, and coaches that helped me get here!” Thomas wrote.
Before heading to NKU, Thomas will play his sophomore season with the Rend Lake Warriors in the spring before graduating in May.
Thomas was a freshman on last spring’s Rend Lake baseball team which won the school’s first regional baseball championship in 11 years.
Rend Lake is a two-year school located in Ina, Ill. It is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Meanwhile, Northern Kentucky University is a member of the Horizon League. The Norse went 15-42 on the baseball diamond in 2019.
Northern Kentucky is located in Highland Heights, near Covington. The Norse competed at the NCAA Div. II level until 2013.
Thomas played in four state baseball tournaments while at Caldwell County. The Tigers were All ‘A’ Classic state runners-up 2017 and played in the All ‘A’ state tourney again in 2018. Caldwell won back-to-back KHSAA 2nd Region championships in 2016 and 2017, advancing to the year-end state tourney both years.
