The season opening doubleheader between Caldwell County and Lyon County will feature some additional excitement outside of the action on the court. Outside of the games between the Lady Tigers and Lady Lyons and the Tigers and the Lyons, there will be an additional competition between the two schools. As a part of the evening, Caldwell County High School and Lyon County High School will be competing for a “Border Battle” traveling trophy to go to the winner of the off the court activities.

One point in the competition will be awarded to the school with the most students in the student section at halftime of the matchup between the Lady Lyons and the Lady Tigers, which is the first game of the night.

Another point will be awarded to the school which brings the most non-perishable food items in for the food drive being conducted that night. The winner of the point will be announced between the two games.

The final point will be awarded to the school that wins a shootout competition at halftime of the game between the Tigers and the Lyons. A boy and a girl from each school will be selected to participate. The pair with the most points will win the point.

The school with the most points after the three competitions will be the school presented with the first ever “Border Battle” trophy.

The doubleheader is set to tip off Tuesday evening at 6pm, in the CAB, at Caldwell County High School.
