Caldwell County Has 9 Chosen for All-WKC Football Team

Caldwell County has had nine players selected to the 2019 All-WKC Football Team.

The squad was released on Monday.

Honored from the Tigers were DeEric Hollowell, Luke Stallins, Dalton Haney, Ben Holt, Tate VanHooser, Max Ashley, Devin Kilgore, Russ Beshear and Baron Wells.

Caldwell went 8-3 this past season, bowing to Murray in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Hollowell, a senior running back, ended his high school football career with 2,424 yards rushing, which is seventh-most all-time at Caldwell County.

His 1,304 yards this season rank ninth on the single-season list.

Hollowell’s 292-yard effort in Caldwell’s win at Trigg County two weeks ago is third on the Tigers’ single-game rushing chart.

Offensive linemen Stallins and Haney helped pave the way for a Caldwell offense that averaged over 314 yards and almost 35 points a game. Stallins is a senior and Haney is a junior.

Holt, a senior linebacker, led the Tiger defense in tackles this season with 116, including 22 tackles for loss and three sacks.

VanHooser, a junior linebacker, was second in tackles with 59. He also started at a receiver spot and tied for the team lead in receptions with 29. He had 351 yards receiving and six touchdowns, He also returned an interception 78 yards for a score.

Ashley, a senior cornerback, led Caldwell in takeaways. Ashley picked off four passes and also had a fumble recovery.

Kilgore, a senior defensive end, was fourth in tackles with 56 this season. He had 13 tackles for loss and was second on the team in sacks with six.

Beshear, a junior quarterback, completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 1,555 yards and 19 touchdowns. He ran for 279 yards and four scores. Beshear also saw extensive action on the defensive side of the football, recording 36 tackles and picking off one pass while playing mostly in the secondary.

Wells, a junior receiver, also played both ways. On offense, Wells caught 27 passes for 356 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Wells had 35 tackles and two interceptions. He also scored four touchdowns on special teams, returning two punts and two kickoffs for scores.

The players will be recognized at the WKC Banquet at a later time.
