Kentucky closed the first half on a 22-2 run and knocked down ten 3-pointers as they rolled to an 81-56 win over Lamar Sunday night at Rupp Arena.
Tyrese Maxey knocked down four of the 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 21 points. Ashton Hagans added 15 points and nine assists. Nick Richards had a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
E.J. Montgomery played 23 minutes for the Wildcats as he tries to come back from an injury. He had seven points and four rebounds. Another player bouncing back from being off the court is Immanuel Quickley who scored 11 points in 19 minutes.
The Wildcats hit 10-of-22 from behind the arc and have hit 16-of-37 (43-percent) in their last two wins after shooting just 20-percent in their first four games.
Lamar (4-2), who has never beaten Kentucky in four career tries, got 19 points from Davion Buster. The Cardinals shot just 32-percent from the field.
Kentucky (5-1) will play UAB in another Friday night game at Rupp Arena.
