Heritage Christian Academy opened their 2019-20 basketball season with a 69-47 loss to Assumption Academy in the first round of the KCAA Tip-Off Classic Friday in Somerset.
The Warriors were trying to dig out of a hole from the start, trailing 18-11 after one quarter and 34-24 at halftime. HCA used a 6-0 run to end the first half, but Assumption outscored the Warriors 2 used a 6-0 run to end the first half, but Assumption outscored the Warriors 24-9 in the decisive third quarter to take control of the game.
Assumption hit 12 three-pointers in the game, while Heritage hit just three.
Derek Wadlington led the Warriors with 15 points and six rebounds. Trenton Hayes joined him in double figures with 10 points, while Elijah Britton added eight points.
Assumption Academy put three players in double figures led by Matt Pfeiffer’s 21 points.
Heritage Christian Academy will continue play in the Tip-Off Classic Saturday.
