The UHA boys’ cross-country team braved a storm that sent spectators running for cover and the rest of the Region 1 1A competition to earn a runner-up finish on Saturday at Marshall County High School. The Blazers move on to next weekend’s state meet in Lexington.
The Blazers took the top 3 spots and compiled 63 points, but were beaten out by Dawson Springs with 54. While UHA dominated to top of the race, the Panthers placed all five runners between 8th and 13th.
Junior Tomas Duncan cruised to the win with a 17:17.12, followed by his brother, 7th-grader Tobias, in 2nd-place at 18:05.35. Sophomore Walter Kunnmann ran 3rd with a 18:50.10. Freshman Luke Shouse (21:32.87) was 28th, just a spot ahead of sophomore Chase Hendricks (21:33.22).
