Marshall County junior Jay Nimmo has been named 2019 Mr. Golf by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association. Lexington Christian Academy senior Laney Frye was named Miss Golf for the second consecutive season to become the first repeat winner since North Hardin’s Lydia Gumm in 2012.

Nimmo totaled 915 points during the season to outdistance runner-up Drew Doyle of St. Xavier and Luke Coyle of Taylor County.

The KGCA determines their Mr. and Miss Golf winners by using totals from the best seven All-State point invitational results during the regular season plus regional and state tournament finishes.

Nimmo, a Mississippi State commit, wrapped up his junior season by winning the 2019 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac KHSAA State Championship. During the season, Nimmo finished with ten Top 10 finishes in invitational tournaments with four wins while finishing fourth in the KGCA All State Championship and winning the Boys Region 1 Championship.

Joining Nimmo on the 10-person All-State First Team was Region 2 winner Daniel Love of Daviess County.

Marshall County sophomore Savannah Howell was named to the Girls’ All-State First Team.
