A week after defeating a top-three team in the Third Region, University Heights Academy picked up a four-set win over a top-three team from the First Region. UHA beat Christian Fellowship 17-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 Monday at Blazer Gym.
It was a total team effort for the Lady Blazers, who were strong in both the service game and at the net. UHA also had 50 digs as a team. It was the second straight match UHA won after dropping the first set.
Meghan Adams had 11 of UHA’s 36 kills in the match. She also had five blocks at the net and 14 digs. Evelyn Morales added seven kills and four digs.
Katie Beth Stevens continued her strong game at the net this season with eight kills and four blocks, and Clarissa Miller added seven kills, seven digs, and four blocks.
Beth Peebles set the table effectively with 25 assists and three digs, and Lily Hendricks had 20 digs and two of UHA’s 10 aces in the contest.
The Lady Blazers improved their region-best record to 24-5. UHA owns the best RPI in the region but was only ranked third in the latest volleyball coaches poll released two weeks ago. In that time, they have defeated Apollo (21-11) and Christian Fellowship (21-8) twice. Those teams are ranked in the top three of their respective regions.
UHA will travel to defending region champion Henderson County Tuesday.
