
For the second time in their last three matches, the Christian County Lady Colonels went toe-to-toe with an opponent, coming up just short in a five threat struggles. Thursday night, the opponent was the Webster County Lady Trojans.
Webster County had to fight back and take the final two sets to come away with the 3-2 win at Colonel Gym.
Christian County got the night off to a good start, taking a hard fought first set 26-24. The set was tight throughout, with the Lady Colonels finally pulling it out at the end.
The second set saw more of the same. This time it was the Lady Trojans pulling it out, taking the set 25-23 to even up the match at 1-1.
Christian County gained the momentum back during the 3rd set. The Lady Colonels fought their way back and took the set 25-20.
The Lady Trojans, who were coming off recent wins over both Madisonville and Crittenden County, then made their move for the night. Webster County rolled through the 4th set 25-12 to even up the match at 2-2, and force the deciding 5th set.
Christian County opened the deciding set fast, taking a 5-0 lead. However, the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Colonels 15-8 over the rest of the set to get the win 15-13, and take the match 3-2.
With the loss, the Lady Colonels fall to 8-16 on the season, headed into this weekend’s Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smack Down.
